Inventure Academy hosted the IX TAISI (The Association of International Schools of India) Sports Meet 2017 which was held at our Bangalore campus from Feb 2 – Feb 5. The sporting extravaganza witnessed participation from 1200 students and their coaches from 31 schools across India. Student Athletes (girls and boys from grades 4 to 12) participated across a range of sports, which included Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball.
TAISI (The Association of International Schools of India) was founded in 2005 with the primary objective to create a platform on which the stakeholders of schools in the region can engage. TAISI SPORTS organised student sports meet every year hosted by different schools and this year we hosted the event.
The meet kicked off on Feb 2nd with the Opening ceremony which included Lighting the Lamp, followed by the Flag Hoisting. The walk past by participating schools was a treat to watch. Ms Nooraine Fazal, CEO & Managing Trustee of Inventure Academy then declared the meet open after which there were some splendid dance performances by Inventurers. The sporting events of the day then started as per the schedule and went on till the 5th of Feb.
Inventure Academy had every reason to cheer as apart from being the host, they also won the overall trophy at the end of the meet, by a comfortable margin. And with this came the fitting finale to an exciting and exhilarating tournament wherein skill, zest and play contributed to the feeling of true sportsmanship among all involved.
Ms Nooraine Fazal, CEO & Managing Trustee, brought the event to a close on the 5th of Feb, with a heartfelt thank you to Team Inventure, student volunteers, faculty and staff who won over the hearts of all the guests with their generosity, and responsiveness. She also asked students & coaches to reflect on the Sportsmanship Oath they took at the start of the games, and their efforts and performance over the last four days. She stressed the importance of being gracious in victory and defeat and backing up the desire to win with goal setting, hard work, fair play, and respect.
In her words, “In any event, there are some who win and some who don’t… Life is a marathon, not a short 100 metres sprint. Use competitions like this to figure out where you are, where you want to be and how to get there… work hard towards finding and achieving your life’s purpose, be it in the field of sports or otherwise.”

The host school was also appreciated widely for their management of the event as well as for the excellent food & student support. Kishen Whabi, Head – Beyond Academics & Sports at Inventure Academy, provided some insights into what all went into the preparation for an event of this scale, explaining how much preparation and detailing was required to get ready for the event.
An important initiative by the Inventure was the installation of a comprehensive Waste Management System for all food waste during the 4-day event. In addition, the emphasis was laid on the usage of only renewable materials during the entire event and keeping the usage of paper or plastic to a minimum.
Mr Derek from the TAISI team was happy to share that this was one of their biggest sports meet with 31 schools participating and appreciative of the efforts of the host school in taking care of the participating teams. He added that the students enjoyed themselves while making the most of this sporting extravaganza.
